A Life of Noisy Desperation
Of Mice and Meteors
18th-Nov-2006 01:40 am
The humane traps arrived yesterday, four bright green boxes with spring-loaded doors. They’ve been baited with stale peanut butter crackers and placed near the office’s corners. Although I’ve volunteered to release any captives found during my shifts, I’m betting on the mice since (a) the crackers aren’t all that alluring and (b) Pepito et al like to dash across the aisles between cubicle rows, well away from the walls.

Meanwhile, astronomers predict an impressive show by the Leonid meteor shower this weekend. Those on the East Coast interested in wishing on a falling star should go to their rooftops around 11:15 p.m., half an hour before the forecasted peak display, to give themselves time for their eyes to adjust and to figure out which way is east.
