A bit about King Kong, and the final word on the Titanic

I did in fact attend the New York City premiere of Peter Jackson’s King Kong and the appropriately gigantic after-party at Pier 92. It was by far the best night I’ve had this year. The movie is extraordinary—beautiful, intelligently scripted, well cast, with nearly seamless effects and some of the most breathtaking actions sequences I’ve ever seen. And yes, I did cry at the end.

According to this article, undersea explorers have found more wreckage from the Titanic on the seabed, which suggests that she broke into three sections as she sank, rather than two. When informed of this news, Robert Ballard, who found most of the ship in 1985, reportedly said, “It hit an iceberg and it sank. Get over it.”
