A Life of Noisy Desperation
21st-Jun-2004 05:14 pm
Had fondue for dinner two nights running. Thought I was going to burst. But I now know where I’ll be holding my birthday dinner. The choices were La Bonne Soupe, a well-established, moderately-priced restaurant, and La Fondue, a tiny, hip, pricier lounge that’ll celebrate its first anniversary this Thursday. Some the invitees have various food allergies and vision problems, so I’m opting for the actual restaurant with its larger menu and brighter lighting (and, frankly, better fondue), even though more guys hit on me at the would-be-upscale hole-in-the-wall joint (and the wonderful Cary Grant/Audrey Hepburn movie Charade was being projected on the rear wall, which definitely earned them points).
